70's to low 80's
After a day off the legs are ready to go! So, 106 miles it shall be. We leave St. Louis via the bike path. Traffic flow changes there made it a little tricky for our support vans, but by the time we hopped off the path vans were in place. One of the highlights of the day is the trip over the Old Chain of Rocks Bridge. This years trip was made a bit more memorable as we heard story's from Hewes about how he traveled over this bridge in the family car as a kid, to visit relatives. Today the bridge is open only to us cyclists and pedestrians. We continue on the path along the river till we reach our SAG stop at a lovely park, shortly after we make our way to the main road past Alton, the Surprise at Piasa Park and into Brssels Ferry, where once again we hopped aboard a ferry crossing the river. Favorable winds keep us moving until that a series of turns bring it into our faces. The last few miles seem to take forever. One more bridge crossing and we arrive, Louisianna, MO, our home for the night.
