Last night we said good-bye to Sondra, home to see an ailing father and in anticipation of her first Grand Daughter. Don’t worry, we’ll see her again up north. The night also brought back Michael our mechanic.
Today is special…
- We weather is great
- The winds favorable
- Staggered Starts
- We ride in three states
- Catch a ferry
- Cross the Great Mississippi
WE cross the Mississippi for the first time today. WE get to ride a ferry. WE have a logistics issue. Two vans supporting riders on two side of the river is rough. Solution… get them there at the same time. Our touring riders leaving first with our speedy riders sent out incrementally. No one miss a turn and this could work!
Waking in Union City, Tennessee, the riders follow the plan, enjoying an awesome breakfast curtesy of the Hampton Inn and an 18 mile ride thru a beautiful rolling countryside into to Kentucky. We arrive at the Mississippi River, where we wait to catch the Doren-Hickman Ferry.
Mile 46 provided a bonus SAG at Boomland. The spot picked by advertisement of “Clean Bathrooms”. The official SAG was at mile 66. New pickle tongs were debuted and were all the rage. From SAG 2 rollers began to be longer and taller. The extra work rewarded the riders with amazing views.
