On the Schedule today 100 miles. This group is ready to tackle it. We are again grateful for perfect riding weather. Beginning our days in the 50′s and ending in the upper 70′s. Riding out of town we make our way to Hwy 61 Riding up over the Yazoo River. What a treat!
Our First SAG it at the ONWARD STORE. Such an oasis in an ong day. It’s been freshly remodeled, offering plenty of space for our weary travelers. The site was all but abandoned last time we were thru. This year there are new owners, a new menu, and a new garden and great bathrooms. The site is famous for giving Teddy Roosevelt his nickname, when he refused to shoot a captive bear.
Our immediate left out of SAG offered a lesson in asphalt make that chip seal. Though the road was flat the choice in size for their chip seal made for a super bumpy ride. Sore hands and butts for everyone.
The ride along the river was beautiful, a little rough… But beautiful. We met our first parallel grooved bridges, rolling by young crops. The day was long, very successful, with Karen completing her very first Century Ride with us. One more thing… we threw in a bonus SAG at mile 84 just for fun. It was greatly appreciated.
