Great Lakes Tour

The Great Lakes Tour explores two National Treasures, Lakes Erie and Lake Ontario. This 15-day, touring-pace ride averages 85 miles per day and crosses through 3 states and Canada. This amazing figure eight tour of Lake Erie and Lake Ontario features riding into the great city centers of Cleveland, Toronto, and Kingston. You’ll see fabulous vista & views of both lakes and take four scenic ferry rides. It also includes riding past Niagara Falls, Cleveland Brown Stadium, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and many more attractions. Lock your cleats in for the ride of your life.

Around Lake Erie

This tour begins, ends and includes a rest day at one of the world’s most magnificent natural wonders - Niagara Falls. First, we circumnavigate Lake Erie by riding in Canada along the Welland Canal to Port Colborne. Here you may see a “laker” eastward bound towards Lake Ontario. Heading west, we ride into the town of Port Dover on our way to Simcoe. This tour has two century days, one of which finds us riding into Leamington, Ontario, the home of Heinz Ketchup. The following day we ”rest” aboard the Pelee Island Ferry as it takes us on a scenic cruise across Lake Erie to Sandusky, Ohio. As the ferry arrives in Sandusky, you can catch a lakeside view of one of the best rollercoaster parks in the USA, Cedar Point. As the adventure continues, we turn east toward Cleveland, where the route follows along the waterfront with opportunities to see Cleveland Brown Stadium and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame before heading on to Mentor, Ohio. Continuing on past small marinas, we ride through Erie, PA and then stop in the city of Dunkirk, NY. We complete the Lake Erie portion by riding through Buffalo, NY, before crossing back into Canada. We’ll ride along the scenic Niagara River as we head back to Niagara Falls for a well-deserved rest day.

Around Lake Ontario

Lake Ontario is the focus of our second leg of the tour as we continue through small towns and farmland to Rochester, NY, known as “The Flower City”. Further east the terrain becomes more rolling as you head through the port city of Oswego, one of the final stops of “The Underground Railroad”. Continuing north now toward the St. Lawrence Seaway, you will board a ferry for a short ride to Wolfe Island. After a short ride across the island, you’ll board another ferry, bound for the historic riverfront city of Kingston, Ontario. Leaving Kingston, we roll through farmland and quaint towns and enjoy another ferry ride on the Glenora Ferry. We’ll ride through historic Loyalist Highway as we head west to Cobourg, Ontario, our second century day. The bustling city of Toronto is our next destination, where we will stay in the center of the city. Leaving Toronto, we ride along a beautiful waterfront trail and watch the city fade into the distance. We leave Lake Ontario and head west to Niagara Falls. We pass by scenic orchards and vineyards on our way. What a thrill it is to realize another cycling goal. You have just completed riding around two of the Great Lakes!
