Cycling Date: Saturday 17-October-15
Mileage: 42 miles
Weather: Low 40s and cloudy to start. Mid 50s and sunny to end. Strong winds out of the WSW.
Highlights of the day:
We rolled out early to grab breakfast on the road. It was overcast and chilly. Winds were light and in our favor. It was our last day on the road for this tour. We had more Maine rollers to start and then a little more downhill towards the coast to flatter (emphasis on the –er) terrain. The leaves were out in the full color and we continued to ooh and aah for the ride into the hotel.
The wind really picked up by our final SAG of the tour (and season). It was blowing a constant 20+ with occasional strong gusts. Fortunately, it was out of the WSW and we were going ENE. We were even blown up a few hills. Cannot say we weren’t enjoying the push. Always happy to have Mother Nature’s assistance. ☺
Both foliage tours have been great experiences. Fun Cyclists. Great weather (except for two rainy and one damp days). Great scenery. A challenging climb or two. Good food. Good conversation. It was a very pleasant way to end the America by Bicycle 2015 cycling season. We look forward another great season in 2016 and hope to see you with us on the road soon.
