It was a beautiful day in San Francisco with early morning temperatures in the 50s and it warmed up to a pleasant breezy day in the 60s. The last of our CCC riders arrived safely with very high levels of excitement and anticipation for the upcoming Cross Country ride. We have riders coming from several European countries along with a large group of American riders. All have set the goal of completing this adventure for various reasons. The atmosphere is one of happiness, excitement, and anticipation.
Many riders made visits to the local bike shop for last minute items while some took their bikes for a short ride along the bay. Our mechanic, Gene, worked nonstop building and certifying all of the bicycles for safety and made sure each was in the best operating condition. Jane and Carole worked with the riders to complete paperwork and explain last minute details. Ride leader, Michelle, worked nonstop completing last minute details and overseeing all of the plans to prepare our group for the first day of riding.
We met as a group to do introductions, explaining the ABB "way" to insure a safe and successful adventure, and ended the day with our first meal together where we had lots of lively conversations amongst the riders. All are looking forward to our first day of riding tomorrow, Sunday!!
