Distance: 79 miles
Weather: Hot and humid! Starting in high 70s going up to 90!
“Today was a hot one” I heard someone say as they pulled into the hotel and boy they were not lying! Although we saw hotter out West, the humidity combined to make everyone seem even hotter, but, at least we did not get the thunderstorms weather.com had been calling for!
Most of the riders just “wanted to get in” today and did not stop for much along the way. We did bicycle past the “world’s smallest chapel” but nobody tried to go inside and visit! Some did stop for some BBQ near Utica. This place has been here quite some time but is merely a trailer with some picnic tables. They tell me they have the best food…it smelled good but unfortunately I was in the van and couldn’t stay to taste it. Maybe next year.
Riders who arrived early took some time to walk around Little Falls and discover the town. Some found ice cream, others a laundromat and others a great place for an ice cold beer! The hotel set up a welcome reception for us before dinner. It is always nice to spend time with each other especially as the ride winds down. Riders are getting both excited and anxious about the end of the ride. To be expected, this is an enormous undertaking they are about to finish.
Tomorrow on to Latham, our last stop in New York! Then just three itty bitty states and we will be there! Hopefully you will come back and see how they do!
