Today was just fun. Not to hot or cold, not humid. Riders set out from Erie to Hamburg in cool temperatures this morning and they never got much higher!
There was a bit of navigation getting out of Erie but our riders were up to the task and were soon rolling into a new state…New York.
They rode alongside Lake Erie for a good part of the day and were able to see it more clearly at the pier in Barcelona, NY. In other places the view of the lake, to the left, was partially obstructed by trees and houses along the shore but, on the right, riders had quite a good view of vineyard after vineyard. Some never knew that Western New York is a grape growing region.
We all met a lady named Judy who stopped to chat with us at our sag stop in Dunkirk. She told us a bit about the town and how she wished the newspaper could talk about some good news…like people riding bicycles across the USA! People like Judy keep our days interesting!
We welcomed John H to the group today. John will be riding the remaining days with us. Nice to see a new face and to have another rider to chat with! Again, “welcome and enjoy”!
