Distance: 108 miles
Weather: Clear, comfortable with a hint of a tailwind!
At the risk of sounding like a broken record, today was another day on I-80 with leaving the hotel at 7:00 and riding on I-80 for 108 miles. Scenery continued to be magnificent as riders slowly started to see some improvement in the amount of vegetation. Sage brush was still abundant, however much taller.
Riders are experiencing a fine line between being tired and beginning to feel much stronger. For many, this was their first experience with riding 10 consecutive days and therefore looking forward to a rest day in Salt Lake City.
First SAG today was at Mile 41 and the second at mile 71 which was the summit of their climbing. One interesting landmark we saw today was an "animal bridge” that was built over the highway - for animals to cross the street reducing the amount of hazards and accidents.
Riders arrived at the Rainbow Inn in time to try their luck at the casino right in the hotel. They had a great buffet dinner and quickly retreated to their rooms to prepare for a very early start and another long day in the saddle. Today's challenge not only involved a lot of miles, but we are now in the Mountain Time Zone giving riders one less hour of daylight and rest. Hang in there for one more day!!
