Distance: 81 miles
Weather: Sunny, low to mid 80s!
Another great day for a bike ride! We set out in cool temperatures and they only seemed to heat up at the very end of the day! Just a few miles out from the hotel riders found themselves on small rural roads with very little traffic. Guess what was growing alongside them? YES! Soybeans and corn!
Our construction for the day was a small bridge that was out, easy for the riders to walk through but bringing the vans through was impossible so we took a “long cut”. Anyway, if there is going to have to be construction (and to have decent roads there needs to be) then this is the type to have!
A little more than halfway through the days ride we entered a new state and a new time zone! We are now in Indiana and the Eastern Time zone! That means we are getting ever closer to New Hampshire but also that we will lose an hour’s sleep tomorrow. :( Some people took advantage of the road going the other way to take photos of the Illinois sign!
We had a couple visitors for dinner today. Laura’s husband Rex drove down to see her and AbB Tour Leader, Mike Munk, came out to see Steve and the rest of us. Mike was a big help when we got the flat….not on the bike but on the van! Thanks Mike, and see you tomorrow!
Tomorrow we ride into Indianapolis and into our next rest day. Lots to do on the way though so we need our rest tonight. (Not too many pictures today, sorry).
