Quincy to Springfield, IL
Happy July 4th! To celebrate, all our riders wore their ABB jerseys today as we left Quincy and headed to the capitol of Illinois, Springfield. It was another day of some pesky rollers, but it was nothing like what they had been experiencing the past few days, still, 106+ miles is not a casual ride. Another cool sendoff let us get rolling in fine fashion, and although the winds were generally in our face the whole day, our riders all managed to get in before route rap – quite the accomplishment.
Louis, from Holland, couldn’t help himself when he saw a little girl in Jacksonville, IL, who had just come back from the local parade. He needed a picture and some TLC from the girl. Needless to say, I bet she has never met a Dutch guy before this! It was one of those special moments.
Tomorrow we can honestly say we will bathe in Champaign, at least I hope so, as we head there.
Come back and see how they did.
