The first rainy day of our trip proved to be a thunder stormy start to the day, in which the riders spent some time waiting things out in the vans, or undercover in various towns, etc. Undaunted, after the severe weather cleared, they got back on their bicycles and pedaled their way through the remaining rain into Lyons and then McPherson. Staff was kept busy figuring out where all the riders had scattered to, as well as changing a large number of flats. This is usually the case when it rains, as a lot more junk seems to appear magically on the shoulder of the roads.
While it wasn’t a perfect day, it still was a good day on the bike.
Tomorrow, we continue our march through Kansas by riding northeast to Abilene.
Come back and see how they did.
