Lamar, CO to Garden City, KS.
Not only did we leave another state behind, but we also rode out of an entire time zone. Say goodbye to both Colorado and Mountain Time, and hello to Kansas and Central Time. That meant our riders had to pedal just a little bit faster as they would be losing an hour. It didn’t really affect them, as they covered the 103 miles in good time.
Coming out of Lamar, everyone took advantage of a nice little tailwind, and the relatively flat terrain to race the 32+ miles to the Kansas border. Despite the fact most think of Kansas as totally flat, we encountered a number of small climbs, just to keep us in good shape for any stray hills.
Along the way, we saw several riders heading west. They are part of the BikeandBuild Organization that helps fund housing projects planned and executed by young adults. So, naturally, a picture was taken with some riders from each group.
After cycling some 230 miles in the past two days, tomorrow should seem almost like a rest day as we only have 51 miles to navigate to Dodge City.
Here is a link to a short video of one of our ABB’ers riding up with the “fast” group
Come back and see how they did.
