Salida to Pueblo, CO
After climbing over the Rocky Mountains, the only thing left was a fast getaway. First, a stop at Patio Pancake for a much deserved breakfast was in order. They served us well and off went our riders towards Pueblo, and their second rest day. The 90 miles was mostly downhill and traveled along the Arkansas River, which provided outstanding scenery.
As the elevation dropped, and the Rockies became a dot in the rearview mirror, the temperature went up. By the time they reached Pueblo, our riders were seeing temps closer to 90, which meant hydration was the biggest obstacle. All made it safely into hotel, where we would say goodbye to Brian and Clint, and recover for the journey that lies ahead.
Come back and see how they did.
