CCC 2014 - Day 17

Gene Emborsky June 17, 2014

Fruita to Montrose, CO

Can you say Wind!

Not your ordinary wind, mind you,

but winds in 25-40 mph range!

That’s what our riders faced today. As kind as the winds were yesterday, they exacted a toll today as it really became a cross country challenge, at least for the 75 miles it took to get to their hotel today. And the absolutely amazing thing was EVERY RIDER made it today! They are really one tough bunch. Along the way, they were able to stop in Delta for some lunch an gather themselves for the last 20 miles. Somehow, good food always helps, especially when you are expending as many calories pedaling as they were today. There certainly were some tired riders today at dinner, but I am confident they will come back strong tomorrow as we ride to Gunnison, getting very close now to crossing the Rockies.

Come back and see how they did.

Stay tuned!
