Just about perfect!
Ride to Sacramento
If only every day were like today!
Ok, if we have to find fault, it was the rather brisk weather we had at today’s rollout. On top of that we had two steep climbs not far from the hotel – this was BEFORE we had anything to eat! AND, we had a small detour before we got the tour of the Jelly Belly factory – do you know they make a draft beer flavored jelly bean? Seems like a pretty harsh day, doesn’t?????
Well, the tailwinds were howling for the second straight day, as speeds on the flats reached 25-30 mph, and the sun came out before we left the JB factory, so things could not have been more perfect. All the riders made Sacramento by 3 PM, with enough time to stop along the way (Davis, the self-proclaimed bicycle capitol of the US, was a favorite lunch stop for many). Personally, I liked the fare at Fat City in Old Town Sacramento.
Let’s hope things hold together for the next couple of days our riders will get a chance to test their climbing legs. Come back to find out how they did.
