Mission today? Get out of town!
Load went smoothly and the excited riders were off to see America.
The Millbrae Ave hill that began 2.8 miles into the trip was certainly a wakeup call for those legs that hadn’t seen that steep an ascent in a while. Everyone made it up the climb at their own pace, where they encountered the usual fog along the way to their Pacific Ocean wheel dip, and even the minor inconvenience of dealing with the Escape from Alcatraz triathlon couldn’t dampen their spirits.
Once they descended into Sausalito, blue skies and warm temps greeted them, along with numerous bike paths to navigate. Finally, they hit their first real stretch of highway, as the ever-busy Route 37 took them into their first night’s destination of Vallejo. The winds were even kind. Wow! What a great first day!!!!
