Distance: 103 miles
Weather: Sunny to partly cloudy, low to mid 80s, tailwinds! (Yes, this is the same weather we had yesterday, and hopefully tomorrow!)
Today was “hump day” in more than one way. First of all, it is day three of a five day section, secondly, there were many “humps” for the riders to get over. And they did so fantastically. Boy are these riders getting strong. Someone nicknamed these hills the “walls” a few years back and our riders flattened them.
This morning we had a few “Honey Badgers” join us. I am not exactly sure what a “honey badger” is but I am sure Joe R knows since these guests were riding with him and I think he is a honey badger too! They did great but had to leave us in Fredericktown. Many of our riders paused here too , at the Taste of Country restaurant/bakery/store. This place has great sandwiches and pie , but they also have a great selection of baking supplies.
Today was Laura ' and Hans’ birthdays. Riders wished them a happy day at breakfast and the sag stop. Hans celebrated his birthday by giving away some t-shirts (and lightening his suitcase). He also told us a bit about himself, and in particular, he was very lucky because “his mother gave birth to him on his exact birthday!” We are glad she did Hans!
We are getting closer but tomorrow’s another riding day. Time to get some rest!
s . somehow we didn’t get very many pictures today…but here are two 🙁
