Distance: 94 miles
Weather: Pleasant, highs again in the very low 80s, slight tailwinds most of the day!
What a great day! The riders were excited to head into our next and last rest day. We just did this less than a week ago! With the great weather, slight tailwinds, flat roads and minimal navigation they flew!
Most of the day was spent riding amongst farms again. Many of these farms are owned by Amish families and some of the riders saw some of these folks riding in their Sunday finest in their horse drawn buggies. Most of the time there were children in the back and it was fun to see how much they liked to wave “hello” to us.
After 69 miles riders had the second sag stop of the day at “Richardson’s Rootbeer Stand” also known as the “White Turkey”. The owner is a cyclist and, as usual, was very accommodating even letting the riders lay their bikes down and hangout on her front lawn. Most riders stopped for a bit to enjoy a shake or a rootbeer float, some even enjoyed full meals!
Just a few miles out of the sag stop we passed into another state, Pennsylvannia! We won’t ride too many miles in this state but we can say we have been here! Just 20 or so more miles and the riders were into the hotel. Whew this leg has had some long tough days so we are happy to have arrived!
Tonight we bade goodbye to David. He had planned to leave here. David will be missed. It will take me a while to get used to him not being “off the front” with Tom. Hope to see you again David. We also had a guest show up. Carole! She missed this group so much she thought she would just come see us! Great to see you again Carole!
Well lots to do tomorrow so I need to get some rest! Goodnight!
