Highlights of the day:
The weather was really lovely today. Cooler temperatures and lower humidity were enjoyed by everyone. Even our staff member from Vermont had to wear long sleeves this morning. He was exceptionally happy.
This was our 7th official century day or probably our 9th or 10th unofficial, and our last really long day of the tour. We had mostly nice road surfaces (I did say mostly…), not too much climbing, and moderate temperatures, that all made for a pleasant ride. This part of Michigan is rural, with lots of smaller farms, more corn and a few large asparagus fields that appear to have gone to seed. We didn’t have the bigger rollers seen in eastern Wisconsin, just gentle hills. The higher mileage went by much more quickly thansome days farther west.
The wife (Karen) of a friend (John) of a rider (Jack) visited today with goodies or rather 6-8 Bundt & sheet cakes of amazing flavors. Pumpkin, orange juice, lemon, chocolate chip and several others. They were all homemade. They were all amazing. They are all gone. We love visitors. We love visitors who bring tasty treats. Thank you Karen!
