Mileage: 0 miles
Weather: Cloudy to start. Cleared up in the afternoon. Upper 70s. A real beauty of a day.
Highlights of the day:
Today is the last day off of the tour. Riders are talking about doing the Niagara Falls tourist thing. Maid of the Mists. Cave of the Winds. Goat Island. Checking out the local restaurants. And then there is the ritual day off trip to the laundromat. Staff is cleaning and prepping for the last leg of the tour.
A little sidebar on this day off… We usually post pictures of flowers on rest days. Why? Because we can and it's a bit of a break from bicycles. But today, we’d like to feature “the duck.” The duck was introduced to this group on Day 0 by one of our riders, Fred. It is passed to a new rider each day at route rap. The rider chosen to receive said duck is one who the current duck wrangler deems to have done something positive that day or as part of their work life or any time, really. There's always a story about what the duck did and what words of wisdom that the duck shared with his care taker du jour. Who knew a duck could talk? It’s been a great way for this group to get to know one another and make us all look for something positive each and every day. It’s a great gift that Fred presented to us way back in Astoria. So now we’d like to share some of the pictures the riders took to document some of the duck’s exploits across the country.
